Lectures  |  Tue, May 13, 2008 6:00 PM - 8:00 PM, Speaker: Marek Wieczorek, Associate Professor, Art History  Belgian artist Georges Vantongerloo (1886-1965) was one of the great pioneers of abstract sculpture, yet his work is still largely underappreciated. Less well known is that Vantongerloo strove for the integration of his sculptures with the other arts he practiced (painting, architecture, typography) into a total environment that would resonate with the abstract principles he saw underlying nature and the cosmos at large. This lecture will unveil important parts of Vantongerloo's vision of art. Sponsor info.: School of Art, Division of Art History 206-543-4876 Location: Henry Art Gallery auditorium
